Paolo Follini was born in Genoa. At nineteen he left on a journey he'd told no one about, and he waited a long time before telling it. He now lives in Switzerland, far from the sea, and goes back to it whenever he needs to breathe salt air. BAJÍO is his first novel.

This story is inspired by real events. Memory, though, tells things its own way: some names, places, and episodes have been changed or fictionalized, where the story or discretion called for it. Those who were there will recognize what matters. Those who weren't can trust me: the soul of it is true.
